The University of Potsdam and the DIfE are looking for outstanding candidates with an excellent, internationally recognized track record in the field of diabetes and metabolism research with an interest in nutrition. We are seeking a highly motivated scientist who pursues molecular, translational and mechanistic research approaches and / or conducts preclinical, translational studies. The successful candidate will head the "Diabetology and Nutrition" department at the DIfE.
It is expected that the candidate will actively enhance our collaboration with the German Centre for Diabetes Research (DZD) and coordinate the «Obesity and Diabetes» research focus at the DIfE.
Leadership skills, a proven commitment to teaching, and experience in acquiring third-party funding are required.
The DIfE is a top nutritional research institute in Germany and offers the opportunity to work side by side and in collaboration with leading scientists from various specializations with the goal to develop and realize interdisciplinary research ideas, especially within the DZD.

The joint appointment will be implemented according to the «Jülich Model» with a teaching obligation at the University of Potsdam in accordance with the BbgHG.
The hiring process is subject to the requirements set forth in Section 43 subsection 1 sentence 1 no. 1 - 3 and no. 4 letters a and c of the Brandenburg Higher Education Act (BbgHG). The appointment procedure is conducted in accordance with Section 42 BbgHG.
