ASM Global is looking for a General Manager to manage and overseeone the Stranahan Theatre in the Toledo Area.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Maintains active contact withthe Client / Contract Administrator and ensures compliance with allprovisions of the services contract.
Aggressively promotes the use of the facility to maximize itsutilization.
Negotiates lease agreementsas determined necessary and in the best interests of the facility.
Negotiates contracts and agreements withevent organizers, hosts, managers, and agents.
Establishes and maintains effective workingrelationships with the Client / Contract Administrator, boards,tenants, government departments and agencies,entertainment / convention industry, community, and civicorganizations to encourage continual and regular use of thefacility.
Assures the coordination,implementation and administration of specific plans and programsprescribed by corporate directives, to include matters of trainingand development; quality assurance; energy efficiency;safety / emergency procedures, crowd control and crisis managementprocedures, or other areas as needed.
Develops and implements facility goals in accordance with themanagement contract, the Client’s objectives, corporate policy, andgood business practice.
Prepares andmaintains required and necessary reports / records for theClient / Contract Administrator and for the Corporate Office.
Plans, organizes, coordinates, and directsall activities and personnel engaged in maintaining and operatingthe facility.
Assists and coordinates withthe development of the annual operating calendar, activityschedules, projections for attendance and / or revenue.
Conducts marketing, budgeting, and weekly staffmeetings.
Directs the development andadministers the execution of operating and marketing financialplans and documents; to include operating revenue and expensebudgets; capital expense plans and budgets.
Provides for control of day-to-day operations; assuringthe coordination of plans, programs, and events; conductspost-event operational and financial review and analysis.
Provides final approval of all contractsand agreements with suppliers, promoters, and tenants for necessaryactivities and services at the facility.
Provides or coordinates for timely and effective response todirectives and requests received from internal and externalorganizations, agencies, departments, and individuals; assures andmaintains the integrity of the facility in all forms ofcommunication and personal contacts.
Oversees and advises Human Resources on any necessaryrevisions / modifications to the staffing plans, including number andtypes of employees, essential functions, salaries, and benefits.
Assures the administration of personneland the operation of plant and facilities are conducted inaccordance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations.
Evaluates facility practices andrecommends improvements to better reflect the needs of the Clientand the facility, and / or to improve the efficiency and safety ofoperations, in compliance with policies and procedures.
Responsible for recruiting, training,supervising, and evaluating administrative and supervisory staff.
Establishes and maintains effectiveworking relationships with the tenants, employees, unionrepresentatives and the public.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordancewith all ASM policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and trainingemployees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraisingperformance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressingcomplaints and resolving problems.

Education and / or Experience
Bachelor's Degree (BA) from a four-year accreditedcollege or university with major course work in business or publicadministration or related field.
Minimumof 5-7 years’ experience industry experience in a senior managementfunction of a Theatre, Amphitheatre, Arena, or Convention Center,or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience in contract negotiation, business law,purchasing procedures, and supervising personnel.
Experience in labor relations and union contracts.

Ability to worksimultaneously with a broad variety of vested interest groups andto foster a cooperative environment.
Demonstrated knowledge of the principles and practices used in thesuccessful management of entertainment facilities of a similardescription.
Ability to anticipateproblems and implement immediate corrective action.
Ability to perform effectively under significantpressure typically associated with meeting the demands andtimetables of the entertainment industry.
Considerable knowledge of event solicitation and presentation,public relations, advertising and media relations and eventplanning
Considerable knowledge of safetyregulations and other federal, state, or local laws and regulations
Strong orientation towardshospitality / customer service for the meeting, convention, andentertainment industry
Basic knowledge offacility operating standards, building maintenance, custodial,personnel and office management
Effectivesupervisory skills. Ability to deal effectively with human resourceand personnel problems; to deal constructively with conflict; tomotivate, provide counsel and execute applicable solutions.
Ability to manage a facility of same sizeand type.
Computer Skills
To perform this jobsuccessfully, an individual should be proficient In Word, Excel,and other Office Programs.
Other Qualifications
Ability toprioritize multiple projects and meet strict deadlines.
Ability to work under minimal supervision.
Ability to work flexible hours, includingnights, weekends, and holidays in addition to normal business houras needed.
Must have professional attitudeand appearance.
Some travel required.
