Blackfield Associates are currently partnered with a Large Engineering service provider to support their search for a Black Utilities Specialist to join one of their pharmaceutical clients projects based in the Rhineland-Palatinate area on an initial 12-month contract.
Key Responsibilities :
- Design and engineer plant utility systems such as cooling water, compressed air, steam, and waste water systems for complex industrial and life sciences facilities.
- Create and manage technical documents including process descriptions, PFDs, P&IDs, specifications, and technical reports.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary project teams (e.g., building services, automation, process) to ensure integration of utility systems.
- Coordinate with external partners and suppliers to align utility designs with project requirements.
- Support the commissioning phase and assist with technical troubleshooting of utility systems during installation and startup.
- Ensure designs meet project specifications, regulatory requirements, and sustainability goals.
Experience and Skills Required :
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Engineering, Process Engineering, or a related field.Several years of experience in utility system engineering, ideally within the pharmaceutical, or biotech industries.Proficiency in utility system design, including experience with PFDs, P&IDs, and technical documentation.Familiarity with relevant technical standards and building codes.Strong coordination, problem-solving, and communication skills.Fluency in English; German language skills are advantageous.
