Your Job :

We are looking for a postdoc to further develop probabilistic, statistical and game-theoretical methods for application in international nuclear safeguards. The tasks include :

Connect existing quantitative methods in international nuclear safeguards with state-of-the-art artificial intelligence / machine learning (AI / ML) algorithms
Contribute to standardising methodologies for calculating detection probabilities
Contribute to further improving and harmonizing random verification schemes, including sampling plans and random inspection schemes, and methodologies to evaluate their effectiveness
Review, update, and consolidate methodologies, including Bayesian methodologies, in the context of material balance evaluation

Your Profile :

PhD in applied mathematics, computer science, physics, or in another relevant natural or engineering science

Good knowledge of uncertainty quantification (including Bayesian techniques), random sampling, data evaluation methodologies, and game theory

Knowledge of the nuclear fuel cycle and nuclear non-proliferation approaches

Independent and committed way of working

Strong ability to work in a team as well as interest in and ability for interdisciplinary collaboration

Very good communication skills in English, spoken and written

We offer you an exciting and varied role in an international and interdisciplinary working environment. Limited until 30.09.26, with possible long-term prospects.
