PostgreSQL Database Administrator & Operations Expert (m / f / d)

Job Description

Freelance, contract with a professional services company, Munich office-based working as a Database Administrator (DBA) consultant, must-have prior project experience in using PostgreSQL. The job title for this contract is PostgreSQL Admin & Operations Expert (m / f / d).

Fluent English is the only language requirement.

As a Postgre database expert you will work within a team to setup, configure, optimise and maintain a PostgreSQL Database Management System (DBMS) on Linux across multiple environments. This role is joining the team as part of an on-going digital transformation project.

Responsibilities :

Database Setup & Configuration – Support the initial setup and configuration of PostgreSQL across multiple environments.

Automation & Housekeeping – Develop and implement housekeeping scripts to enhance database efficiency.

Operational Support – Assist with backups, data unloads, test data management, and other essential tasks during the project's second phase.

Testing & Optimization – Work alongside technical migration experts and functional Single Points of Contact (SPOCs) to enhance DBMS performance during performance testing and migration testing.

Requirements

Residency in the EU or UK

All applicants must have one of the following nationalities :   German, British, Italian or Spanish .

Applicants will ideally already hold security clearance SÜ2,  or if not, be willing to undergo the process of obtaining SÜ2 (initiated by the client).

Fluent English language skills (business fluent), German is nice to have .

Strong experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator .

Hands-on expertise in Linux-based environments .

Proficiency in scripting for automation (e.g., Bash, Python).

Experience in database performance tuning and troubleshooting .

Strong communication and teamwork skills.

High level of commitment, independence, and personal responsibility
