The Department of Engineering (DoE) is a dynamic, interdisciplinary group engaged in civil, electrical and mechanical engineering, driving forward innovative research and solutions.
Your role
The Technical Support Unit (TSU) of the Department of Engineering of the Faculty of Science, Technology and Medicine seeks a Research Support Technician to strengthen the TSU team. We are looking for a candidate enthusiastic about joining the TSU and helping to support the research activities of the members (PHD students, Post-doctoral researchers, professors) of the DoE.
The candidate should be eager to engage in interdisciplinary collaborations, both with academic and industrial partners.
Tasks to be executed :
- Supporting the researchers in scientific test preparation and first-time execution
- Acquisition and installation of scientific equipment; maintenance, calibration, reparation and service
- Acting as a bridge with the suppliers and procurement to clarify technical and administrative aspects
- Track and review reports to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Ensuring quality control and accuracy of measurement
- Installation, configuration and programming of sensor networks and data acquisition systems
- Laboratories (Kirchberg and Belval campus)
Acquisition and safe storage of chemicals
Handling waste disposal in compliance with regulationEnsure the safety organisation of the laboratory and complianceImplement a laboratory plan with scientific laboratory related tasksUpdating the inventories (spare parts, sensors, scientific equipment, chemical consumables)Supporting the researchers in scientific field workTrain and supervise new employees and students which includes Safety instructions and good practicesYour profile
Master's degree ideally in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similarWorking experience in chemical laboratory and quality controlKnowledge of QSE standards and regulationsStrong understanding of chemicals, laboratory procedures and equipmentAbility to operate standard scientific equipmentAbility to work proactively and, independentlyAdaptability and willingness to learn new skillsTeam spirit, dynamism and sense of initiativeGood command of MS Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)Driving licenses for car (B) is an advantageGood oral and written expression of EnglishKnowledge of French, German and Luxembourgish are an advantageWe offer
