Area Manager
Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This key part ofour business makes sure we fulfil and dispatch orders efficientlyso that our customers get their items on time.
As an Area Manager,you’ll make sure your site is running as smoothly as it should sothat we can meet customer demand. You will be leading a team thathelps keep our operations safe, efficient, and of a high qualityand taking on a number of projects across our network to driveproductivity.
Key jobresponsibilities
- Create, oversee, and drive a cultureof safety and wellbeing
- Analyse and implement changesto keep quality and productivity at a consistently high level
- Oversee projects to streamline processes, optimiseproductivity and increase quality of service for customers withinyour area of responsibility
- Analyse shift performanceagainst relevant business objectives, and put in place actions toimprove our operational excellence
- Workcollaboratively with management-level colleagues to standardiseshift practices
A day in thelife
You’ll work on a shift pattern at one of our sites,making sure it is as productive as it can be. Your main focus willbe to own and drive a culture of safety and uphold quality andshift performance standards.
You’ll also oversee processimprovements within your area and drive implementation. A typicalday is varied, including everything from routine team managementand daily operational responsibilities to process improvement andwide-scale operational contingency tasks.
You’ll also be a rolemodel and mentor to new managers.

Amazon Extra Large (AMXL) looks after heavy itemslike furniture and large home appliances. Our team manages theentire service, from supply chain fulfilment to delivery andreturns.
What sets this service apart from others is the extralevel of customer care. Not only do we deliver large items, but weunpack, assemble and install them, and take away old items whereneeded.
With a focus on safety, productivity and innovation, we’rechanging the way customers buy and receive large goods for thebetter.
We have ambitious plans to expand ourspecialist fulfilment centres and delivery stations across the UKand Europe. While those of us who work in delivery stations will dosome night shifts, most of us work during the day.
Our team is madeup of people across operations, supply chain, business intelligenceand programme management, and everyone plays a crucial role ingrowing this part of the business.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- A degree
- Relevant experience in people management
- Relevant experience of communicating with a wide range ofstakeholders, including your peers and leadership
- Relevant experience in using data or anecdotal evidence toinfluence business decisions
- Advanced proficiency inlocal language and English

- Experience working with Lean, Six Sigma andKaizen techniques
