DevOps Engineer

First Point Group are looking to hire a freelancer / freiberufler to join our customer project. This will be a 6 month assignment initially, with extension available.

The project is based in Leipzig however you can be located anywhere in Germany and support remotely. Occasional travel to meet the customer will be required.

We are looking for someone proficient with Lunux, Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, and networking protocols. Ideally with customer facing experience on system installation projects.

Conversational German is absolute minimum, you must be comfortable enough speaking the language whereby you are happy to have part of the interview in German, this will be necessary, so if you cannot do this then unfortunately you cannot be considered.

What you’ll do :

• Oversee the technical analysis and the validation of the IT / networks and prerequisites.
• Prepare all the documents needed for the solution deployment.
• Provide support to the teams in charge of the physical installation of equipment on customer sites.
• Execute end-to-end integration & are responsible for the validation, the acceptance of the solution and the respect of the schedules agreed with the client.
• Carry out the investigations required for the resolution of the incidents by relying on the R&D when it is necessary.
• You will be the key point of contact for several customers for maintenance and support activities.
• You will analyze and troubleshoot incidents raised by customers in order to ensure service restoration.
• Bugs fixing when possible.
• You will define, communicate, and implement action plans to solve incidents.
• You will be responsible of restoration and resolution SLAs and communication through customers.
• You will manage technical escalation in collaboration with the R&D department.

Technical skills

• Linux Operating Systems
• Understanding of networking protocols, such as TCP / IP, UDP, TLS, SSH, HTTP, DNS, NAT, SMTP, SNMP, firewalls and router configurations.
• Cloud base applications (EX : AWS & Azure)
• Cloud Native Orchestration (EX : Kubernetes & Docker)
• CI / CD : Github
• Scripting / Programming : TypeScript / Golang / Angular / React / SQL / MongoDB
• Virtualization environments ESX / VMWare
• Knowledge of DevOps organization
• Understanding of Optical networks

Assets :

• Database : MySQL, Sybase, PostgreSQL, Oracle
• Cloud Native Application monitoring (EX : Prometheus & Grafana)
• Search Engine / Database (Elasticsearch, Mongo)
• Programming language, including integrations with JSON, XML and REST APIs.
• ActiveMQ message broker

Must Have :

• Relevant experience : 5 years minimum as a field engineer, system engineer or solution engineer.
• Language requirement : Fluent in German & English, another language would be a plus (French, Spanish)
• Education : Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
• Ability to travel.
• Any other combination of experience / studies shall be considered.
