The Role

As  Senior Research Scientist Molecular Biology , you will be part of an exciting international R&D and business environment, working with cutting edge technologies involved in a broad portfolio of diverse projects. The role requires a strong background in Molecular Biology and Fungal genetics, preferably in Aspergillus species. It includes the opportunity for development, and an attractive compensation package.

Your key responsibilities will be :

  • Join our team of highly dedicated and skilled experts inside the Molecular Biology discipline
  • You will significantly contribute to projects for production platform development (e.g. Aspergillus), continuous strain improvement and enzyme products
  • The work contains idea facilitating, designing, planning, executing of experiments in the laboratories and technical supervision of colleagues for fungal strain development
  • Be responsible for trouble-shooting, continuous improvement of protocols and furthermore, methods towards higher throughput
  • Work closely with the cross-functional project teams and the key internal stakeholders
  • You will be based in Darmstadt, Germany and will interface with global R&D teams located in Germany and in Finland, as well as other disciplines (e.g., Application Development, Regulatory Affairs)

About You

  • You obtained a master’s degree (or ideally higher) in Molecular Biology or adjacent sciences and 3+ years of work experience in a comparable role in the industry
  • You have solid experience with fungal production platforms e.g. Aspergillus, are familiar with strain engineering and ideally you also have expertise in automation
  • Familiarity with bacterial production platforms e.g. Bacillus would be a plus
  • Your are an innovative, goal-oriented and hands-on person with passion for applied sciences, team player mentality and high problem-solving skills
  • You are an effective and cooperative communicator within multidisciplinary teams
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English, German is a plus
