The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg.
We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine - in the lab, in the clinic and in silico . We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease and their contributing factors. The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various disciplines : computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. We excel because we are truly interdisciplinary, and together we contribute to science and society.
Your role
The Team Leader Communication is responsible for shaping and implementing the communication strategy of the LCSB. This position ensures that the Centre's scientific achievements, strategic partnerships, and societal contributions are communicated effectively to a broad range of stakeholders, including researchers, policymakers, industry leaders, students, and the wider public. Team Leader will be part of the Operational Team at the LCSB and is reporting to the Head of Operation.
Strategic Communication
- Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy aligned with LCSB`s mission and vision
- Shape and implement communication strategies that enhance LCSB's visibility and impact at national and international levels and advise LCSB researchers on effective communication of scientific results and societal impact
- Cooperate closely with UL's Communication Department and other UL services, and ensure compliance with UL branding and communication standards to strengthen UL`s positioning overall
External Communication
Oversee production of high quality content for digital platforms, press releases, newsletters, reports, and events, and ensure scientific findings are translated into accessible language for non-specialist audiencesCoordinate outreach activities, including conferences, public lectures, exhibitions, and stakeholder engagementAct as primary LCSB contact for media inquiries and foster relationships with journalistsInternal Communication
Promote a positive and inclusive work environment by organizing internal networking activities, and onboarding meetings for new staffOrganize seminars, workshops, and informal gatherings to encourage cross-functional exchange and strengthen the sense of community within LCSBDesign initiatives that keep employees informed and engaged, including newsletters, intranet updates, and internal campaignsTeam Leadership
Lead and mentor the Communication Team, ensuring high-quality output and professional growthSet clear objectives, monitor progress, and implement best practices to maintain efficiency and excellence across all communication activitiesFoster relationships within UL, as well as with national and international partners, research institutions, and funding bodiesYour profile
Master's degree (or higher) in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, or Life SciencesProven experience in science communication, preferably in Life Sciences and academic environments, as well as excellent skills in digital communication toolsStrong leadership and project management skillsAbility to translate complex scientific concepts into engaging narratives for diverse audiences, including policymakers, industry partners, media, and the general publicFluency in English is required; proficiency in German is important and in French and or Luxembourgish an assetWe offer
