The Position
Your department
Your new position will be located in the ‘Antibody Development’ subchapter, which belongs to ‘Reagent Research & Design’ department in Roche Diagnostics.

We aim to develop the best in class antibodies for highly sensitive and specific detection of any biomarker in any test format.
Your Team
We develop antibodies for various platforms of Roche Diagnostics. You will work equally in the groups of ‘Antibody Development’ and ‘Antibody Molecular Biology’ that are responsible for the generation of diagnostic antibodies.
After a profound introduction to the techniques and tools for antibody generation, sequencing and recloning, you will work on current projects in the field of personalized healthcare or other exciting projects in the fields of infectious diseases, fertility, oncology or cardiovascular diseases.
Your objectives / tasks
Development of diagnostic antibodies using the classical hybridoma or the B cell PCR technologies
Isolation of B cells and cultivation
Single cell sorting of B cell specific populations
Screening for target-specific antibodies
RNA-isolation from B cell lysates and subsequent cDNA synthesis
RT-PCR of IgG heavy chain and light chain coding sequences and cloning in suitable expression vectors, transformation of E. coli, preparation of constructs
Process steps with extensive use of automated systems at high throughput
Work on research projects to support antibody development optimization
Independent planning of your experiments
Documentation and presentation of your results
If you have the following experience and knowledge, you have come to the right place :
Master Degree in Biology, Immunology, Biotechnology or a comparable study program
Knowledge and hand-on experience about basic immunology and cell biology techniques (cell culture, FACS, ELISA)
Experience in molecular biological methods RT-PCR, cloning) and knowledge in respective analytical methods
Very interested in laboratory automation
Curious and open for new ideas
Not afraid of thinking outside the box
Excellent English skills, German knowledge is an advantage
Engagement, strong self-reliance and organizational skills, and very important enjoy working together in a team
This position is limited to 2 years.
