Location : Dahlewitz - Berlin - Germany

What you will be doing :

As a Systems Engineer in Systems Engineering Validation and Verification (SEV&V), you will interface across a wide range of stakeholders both internally and externally within the company to integrate and drive customer, business, regulatory and technical requirements for civil aero-engines and work alongside these stakeholders to develop potential solutions.

This includes product requirements and the higher-level business enterprise requirements that flow into the product. The scope of this activity relates to new engines being developed in Future Programmes and existing engines.

As part of this new team, you will be exploring and developing new system engineering practices within the company such as the use of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) to assist in the understanding and definition of potential business and technical architectures and solutions. This covers engineers who are performing Development, Systems Engineering and Verification style roles. It is an integration role where you will work to enable all engineering teams through coaching and support to successfully develop robust, verified engineering solutions against robust validated customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Interface between external and internal customers, to elicit and validate all stakeholder requirements including business, technical customers, and partners.
  • Create an appropriate Enterprise Architecture solution which serves both business and technical needs.
  • Set the Systems Engineering and Verification approach for an Engineering Programme through the relevant management plan (e.g. Requirements Management Plan, Verification Plan)
  • Establish / manage appropriate (Requirements, Design Rationale Evidence, Design Definition and Verification Information) R-E-D-V structure that joins information across all areas involved (Customer, Business, System, Sub-System and Component) for the project.
  • Ensure sufficient rigor is put into requirements validation and verification, to remove technical risk.
  • Develop product verification strategy, structured verification plan and Product Development Plan
  • Define and deliver robust certification and qualification strategies.
  • Manage the creation of substantiation evidence, clearance / acceptance documentation that meets the demand for the project.
  • Be the point of contact with the project to support and coach the team regarding Systems Engineering, Validation and Verification activities, driving the right V&V behaviours within the project.

  • Highly numerate with strong technical, analytical, and problem-solving skills, qualified to degree level in a STEM subject and with experience in a relevant engineering environment (Mechanical, Aeronautical, Electrical or Controls).
  • Capable of systems level thinking, with knowledge of Systems Engineering tools, techniques, and processes
  • Highly driven with excellent communication and presentation skills, and able to contribute effectively in a team environment, collaborating across different engineering disciplines
  • Experience of working in a product development programme.
  • Experience working in aerospace or highly regulated industry sector with a broad understanding of Gas Turbine physical and functional characteristics.
  • Familiarity with Systems Engineering principles and tools, structured verification and ARP4754
  • Basic proficiency in Python and DXL are preferred
  • Good communication, presentation skills and an ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment
