Food Operations Manager

The position

We’re looking for a passionate and experienced food operations manager to join our dynamic team in Berlin. In this role you'll be in charge of setting up, scaling up and industrializing the production of our dairy products from start to finish.

This means working with supply partners and contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs) to source our ingredients and produce our products sustainably and cost-efficiently, while adhering to quality and food safety requirements.

You'll work closely with our different teams to make sure our alternative dairy products are produced and delivered smoothly to our customers.

Your responsibilities

• You will manage the scale-up and industrialization of prototypes coming out from product development, collaborating with our different teams to improve our products.
• You will scale-up our products to the industrial scale, conduct pilot plant validations and trials at our co-manufacturing sites, optimizing product formulations and processes for large-scale manufacturing.
• You will lead the selection, onboarding, and ongoing management of CMO partners. Developing and maintaining strong relationships with CMOs to ensure alignment with our quality standards, production schedules, and cost-efficiency goals.
• You will own our ingredients sourcing at scale and manage our compounders partners to deliver the appropriate mix of ingredients to our CMOs.
• You are responsible for enforcing rigorous quality control standards across all stages of production, from raw material sourcing to finished product distribution.

Conducting regular audits and inspections to uphold product quality and safety standards.

• You continuously identify opportunities to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• You will develop key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to track operational performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive continuous optimization.

Generating regular reports and analysis to inform strategic decision-making.

Job requirements

• You have a master’s degree in operations management, engineering, business administration, or related field.
• A strong background in project management and manufacturing expertise. Ideally you have knowledge and interest in the dairy or beverages industry.
• Proven track record of successfully managing CMO relationships and overseeing end-to-end manufacturing processes.
• Willingness to travel to co-manufacturers mostly in Germany and Europe.
• Strong understanding of quality assurance standards, food safety regulations, and industry best practices.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven decisions.
• Passionate about food, health, nutrition, and sustainability.
• Solid communicator & negotiator.
• Drive-in an entrepreneurial setting, eager to collaborate across functions and backgrounds.
• Fluent in English and German.
