Research for a life without cancer“ is our mission at the German Cancer Research Center. We investigate how cancer develops, identify cancer risk factors and look for new cancer prevention strategies. We develop new methods with which tumors can be diagnosed more precisely and cancer patients can be treated more successfully. Every contribution counts - whether in research, administration or infrastructure. This is what makes our daily work so meaningful and exciting.
Together with university partners at seven renowned partner sites, the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) has established the German Cancer Consortium (DKTK).
For the Junior Research Group " Forward Genetics for Translational Solid Cancer Research " at the DKTK partner site Dresden , we are seeking for the next possible date a
PhD Student on the topic “Delineation of metastatic drivers in gastric cancer” (m / f / d)
In the Junior Research Group "Forward Genetics for Translational Solid Cancer Research", we study different cancer phenotypes, from resistance to therapy to metastatic competence. Physiologically relevant modeling systems are utilized, including mouse models and 3D organoid cultures. The unifying methodological framework are forward genetic screens that aim to delineate genetic determinants of a given phenotype. Our screens make use of a range of Cas9 modalities to mimic different patterns of gene expression. The ultimate goals are the identification of drivers of therapy resistance and metastasis and, consequently, the development of new therapeutics to target these processes.
