Senior Reliability / Test Engineer (TestStand / C# / Ethernet / PCIe)

VIAVI Solutions’ Lab Production Business Unit in Eningen has a need for a Senior Test Engineer with the experience and drive to make a difference. This position will directly support new product introduction and perform secondary support for Asian contract manufacturing sites. Prior experience in the field of Ethernet and PCIe testing is strongly preferred.

The purpose of this position is to ensure high quality and reliable test methods and approaches are designed into automated test systems in manufacturing and service for Optical Transport and Compute, Storage, and Transport (CST) test equipment produced by the Lab Production Business Unit. This position will partner with R&D during new product introduction and continue to support products throughout their lifecycle.

Duties & Responsibilities :

This role will closely partner and be co-located with R&D at the VIAVI Eningen office and potentially at other R&D sites.

Provide DFT directions to R&D at the concept stage of new product development.

Devise the overall test and configuration strategy for new products.

Design and develop the various automated production systems required to implement the strategy.

Detailed project planning to ensure that all production systems are developed, debugged, and validated in time for production pilot runs.

Detailed design of specific tests required to ensure products are free from hardware defects.

Design and implement validation plans to ensure repeatable and reliable functionality of production systems.

Install and validate production systems at their final production facility (usually at a contract manufacturer).

Process optimization between Pilot and Volume Production.

Metrics :

Test Cycle Time, while maintaining effective and agreed upon test coverage.

Optimal test coverage and capability at specified budget constraints.

Compliant Gage Repeatability and Reliability.

Pre-Requisites / Skills / Experience Requirements :

4-year electrical engineering degree, MSEE or equivalent preferred.

5 years of experience developing automated functional tests.

Fluency in written and spoken German and English required.

C# , Python and other programming languages essential.

NI TestStand is essential.

Knowledge of communications technology and test technology - such as : PCIe, Fiber Channel, SAS / SATA, and Ethernet.

Project planning / self-directed management skills.

Desirable :

SQL database programming experience.

Knowledge of statistical process control.

NI LabVIEW and / or LabWindows CVI programming experience.

Must be a self-starter, strong team player and demonstrate leadership skills.

Ability to travel up to 15% of the time to Asian contract manufacturing sites.
