Category Manager – Beef
Location : Germany with travel requirements (50–70 days annually)
Salary : Competitive, plus benefits
To be considered for this position, you must have a background of procuring beef, red meat or animal products.
We are partnering with a leading organisation seeking an experienced Category Manager to oversee procurement and optimise supply chain operations, with a key focus on facilities in Germany, Poland, and Lithuania. This role is integral to ensuring the efficient and sustainable sourcing of beef within one of the world’s largest supply chains.
In this position, you will develop and implement sourcing strategies tailored to customer forecasts, negotiate supplier contracts to secure reliable and cost-effective solutions, and collaborate with stakeholders to maintain seamless operations. Regular travel to processing facilities and abattoirs in Germany and other European locations will be essential to strengthen supplier relationships and address operational challenges and efficiencies directly.
Your expertise in analysing global beef markets and pricing trends will be critical in shaping procurement strategies for the beef supply chain. You'll also identify supply chain risks and implement contingency plans to ensure supply continuity. Working closely with quality assurance teams, you’ll help resolve claims efficiently and support sustainability goals by aligning supply chain practices with best-in-class standards.
This is a role for a proactive problem solver who can navigate the complexities of a dynamic market. You’ll act as a trusted advisor to both suppliers and stakeholders, driving discussions on procurement planning, pricing strategies, and sustainability initiatives.
Fluency in German and English is essential to succeed in this role, as is a strong understanding of the European beef supply chain. Candidates with additional knowledge of Polish will have an advantage. You should bring excellent negotiation skills, an analytical mindset, and practical experience in the foodservice, farming, or processing sectors. Strong organisational skills and a commitment to sustainable supply chain practices are also highly valued.
This is a unique opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the future of the European beef supply chain while working with an organisation that values innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence.
