A renowned global platform / application transforming the way people connect with unique accommodations and experiences is looking for an experienced Public Policy Manager to support its government relations efforts across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic and mission-driven team, contributing to innovative solutions in the travel and tourism industry.

Position : Public Policy Manager for CEE

Location : Based in Germany (remote work possible)

Contract Duration : 11 months (initial term)

Focus Countries : Hungary, Slovenia, Romania, Ukraine

Travel Requirement : 1-2 visits per month to assigned countries

About the Role

As a Public Policy Manager , you’ll play a critical role in defining and implementing strategies to engage with government stakeholders and institutions at national, regional, and local levels. You’ll focus on navigating regulatory challenges, communicating policy positions, and ensuring compliance with key EU directives, including the upcoming EU short-term rental regulation (effective May 2026).

This position reports to the Senior Public Policy Manager for DACH CEE and collaborates with a diverse, multi-skilled team of policy experts, legal professionals, and communication specialists.

Key Responsibilities

  • Regulatory Monitoring : Stay ahead of political and regulatory developments in Hungary, Slovenia, Romania, and Ukraine, ensuring alignment with the company’s strategic goals.
  • Stakeholder Engagement : Build proactive relationships with elected officials, government agencies, and local administrative bodies to advocate for policies supporting sustainable tourism.
  • Policy Communication : Develop and present clear policy positions to external stakeholders, demonstrating the positive contributions of the collaborative economy.
  • Campaign Strategy : Shape and implement advocacy strategies in partnership with cross-functional teams, including legal and communications.
  • Team Collaboration : Participate in regular meetings at the Berlin office and work closely with regional colleagues to achieve shared objectives.
  • Project Management : Lead complex initiatives across multiple markets, ensuring timely and impactful delivery.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience : Minimum 4-5 years (ideally 7+ years) in government relations, public affairs consultancy, or relevant roles in political, governmental, or regulatory contexts.
  • CEE Expertise : Deep understanding of the political landscape and legislative processes across CEE, with knowledge of EU regulations as a strong advantage.
  • Languages : Fluency in English is mandatory, along with proficiency in a CEE language (e.g., Czech, Hungarian, Slovenian, Romanian, or Ukrainian).
  • Communication Skills : Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills for engaging with diverse stakeholders.
  • Adaptability : Proven ability to manage complex projects, multitask, and meet strategic goals in a dynamic environment.
  • Travel Willingness : Availability for regular travel to focus countries and Berlin office meetings.
