The primary research goal of the Institute of Diabetes Research and Metabolie Diseases (IDM) is the individualized prediction of diabetes risk and diabetes prevention and its personalized therapy.
Our Metabolic Neuroimaging Department (Head : Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Hubert Preissl) is looking for a PhD candidate in Human Neuroimaging and Nutrition Research (f / m / x).

Your tasks
We are looking for an enthusiastic and dedicated scientist who is eager to work and evolve in a highly interdisciplinary environment with neuroscientists, physicians, biomedical engineers and psychologists.
Your tasks as a PhD candidate will include
- study central nervous system processes and human eating behavior in human volunteers at high risk to develop diabetes
- apply different neuroimaging techniques, behavioral and metabolic measurements as well as cognitive paradigms
Your profile
- MSc in Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, Psychology or Nutritional Sciences
- Detailed knowledge in statistical analysis (using SPSS, R or SAS) and programming in MATLAB and / or Python
- Experience with conducting human experimental research
- Experience with functional magnetic resonance imaging and the implementation of cognitive paradigms is beneficial
- Excellent ability to act and communicate both independently and in a team-oriented manner
- Motivation and commitment to a scientific / academic career
- Good command of both English and German

Remuneration and social security benefits are based on the German Collective Wage Agreement for Public-Sector Employees at Federal Level (EG 13 50% TV EntgO Bund).
