At the Institute for the Protection of Maritime Infrastructures in Bremerhaven, we research and develop innovative solutions to strengthen the resilience of maritime infrastructures and make them adaptable, safe and sustainable. In close cooperation with partners from research, industry and other maritime security stakeholders, we combine technological innovation with practical expertise and offer you the opportunity to work on pioneering projects.
What to expect
Development of a distributed multi-sensor network and heterogeneous data transmission
In the context of applied security research, you will develop a multi-sensor network in which commercial and our self-developed scientific instruments are combined, data streams, interfaces and formats are homogenized and communication with the situation center is ensured. The range of sensors extends from cameras and active optical instruments to underwater sonar systems. The individual sensor control systems developed in various working groups are written in different programming languages (e.g. C++, Python) and run on different operating systems (Linux, Windows).
Together with colleagues, you will design a functioning overall architecture, select hardware components for your network independently and validate it both at the institute and in the field during trials and technology demonstrations.
This position offers you a wide range of opportunities and freedom for your personal and scientific development, as well as support if you would like to do a PhD in the field, a dynamic and interdisciplinary environment and the opportunity to present your research results internationally. You will benefit from a public sector employment contract with 30 days of annual leave, flexible working hours, mobile work options, and a strong focus on work-life balance. In addition, we offer a comprehensive training program, a job ticket, and attractive employee discounts.
