Your Job :

• Work on a range of machine learning and / or causal inference methods to study the impact of volcanic and solar forcings on stratosphere-troposphere coupling, where explainability, interpretability, and reliability are as important as high accuracy
• Analyse strategically designed chemistry-climate model simulations and paleo-climate data records to advance our understanding of the underlying theory of solar and volcanic impacts on surface climate
• Work with experts at the Jülich Supercomputing Centre (JSC) to run your algorithms / tools on large, distributed computer systems
• Write reports and journal publications, regularly participate in SOLVE project meetings together with our Helmholtz partners (GEOMAR, AWI, GFZ and KIT), and attend international conferences to present your work
