Job Description
Job Description Summary
Join the Turbine Aerodynamics team at GE Aerospace Advanced Technology in Garching, Munich, as a Working Student / Intern, and leverage your technical & analytical skills to contribute to groundbreaking advancements in cutting-edge technology. Gain hands-on experience and be part of a team pushing the boundaries of aerospace engineering.
In collaboration with the TUM Chair of Turbomachinery and Flight Propulsion, GE would like to make a step change in how we execute traverses of aerodynamic probes. Today , we use single-axis linear slides with stepper motors. Going forward, we would like to leverage multi-axis robotic arms. The successful candidate will be responsible for all aspects of integrating the new style of traverse in the TUM probe calibration wind tunnel.
Start can be as early as May / June 2025 , with a planned duration of 6 months.

Your work will contribute to the production of advanced jet engines, components, and integrated systems that power commercial and military aircraft. You'll be part of a team that embraces your drive, your curiosity, and your unique ideas and perspectives. Most importantly, you'll share in our pride and purpose that affects the lives of millions around the world!
Responsibilities
- Physically integrate a six-axis robotic arm in the probe calibration wind tunnel.
- Design probe holders to interface between the robotic arm and aerodynamic probe.
- Create software to control robot arm and execute volumetric traverse in the jet of the CalJet facility.
- Develop methodology for positioning of probe.
- Document test instrumentation and hardware inspections.
- Prepare and present detailed reports on findings and progress.
