MAJOR FUNCTION
The Learning Consultant is grant-funded position housed within the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice, Office of the Secretary and Office of Staff Development & Training. The Learning Consultant is responsible for preparing for and providing certification and in-service training for juvenile justice professionals.
MINIMUM TRAINING / EXPERIENCE : A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and three years of professional or technical experience in areas such as training, teaching, staff development, criminal justice, forensic laboratory or a combination of education and experience. Professional or technical experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.
SUCCESSFUL APPLICANTS WILL DEMONSTRATE THE FOLLOWING : Knowledge of juvenile justice policy, procedures, practices and training curriculum. Skills in assessing training and professional development needs. Skills in consulting and providing technical assistance. Skills in developing and maintaining collaborative relationships. Ability to conduct literature research related to juvenile justice. Ability to develop lesson plans and deliver competency-based curriculum. Ability to provide classroom training. Ability to plan, organize / coordinate work assignments within set guidelines. Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing. Ability to work independently with minimum guidance and be a self-starter. Ability to work effectively with a team. Ability to operate personal computers and audio visual aids. Ability to travel. Extensive knowledge in Protective Action Response Curriculum. Ability to plan schedule for self and other Learning Coordinators on a Regional and statewide basis (when directed by the Deputy Director).
