Doctoral Candidate (PhD) / Junior Research Assistant (all genders) - Institute for Clinical Chemistry and Laboratory Medicine
Main tasks
The Endothelial Cell Biology group (AG Beerens) investigates the molecular mechanisms that control cardiovascular development and disease using advanced in vitro, zebrafish and mouse models, with subsequent validation in patient material. We have identified several molecules and signaling pathways that are remarkably active in the cardiovascular system, but whose function during development or disease is still unknown. We are therefore looking for a highly motivated PhD student to further investigate their role during cardiovascular development and disease. The ideal candidate is driven, curious, and willing to work in an international team of scientists and clinicians to explore new hypotheses and insights relevant to human disease. Previous laboratory experience is recommended but not required.
As part of the work in a DFG-funded project, a dissertation in the natural sciences (Dr. rer. nat. / PhD) is to be completed. The position is to be filled with 65% of the regular weekly working hours for an initial period of three years.
Your tasks :
- Writing and presenting your research results
- FACS analyses, fluorescence microscopy, immunoblotting, cell culture work, coagulation tests, ELISA, protein isolation, etc.
- Critical thinking and an analytical mindset
- Planning and execution of in vitro and animal studies
