The department that will welcome you is Site Logistics Boehlen, which is one of the infrastructure areas of the site and has around 45 employees. The main task of the area is the storage and handling of many raw and auxiliary materials and products traded at the site. The department therefore has interfaces to all production facilities located at the site (both Dow and third parties).

Project description

The loading and unloading of rail tank cars with liquefied gases or liquids plays a crucial role in the operation of a highly integrated chemical site. Loading and unloading and coordination with other internal contacts and external service providers takes place according to the requirements of the Supply Chain department. Various data and information, such as tank car number, date of unloading, weight, etc. are recorded and processed. In addition to measuring technology, such as weighing technology, process control technology and server technology as well as other electronic tools and accounting programs such as SAP are used. The optimization and digitization of these processes plays an important role in increasing efficiency. For this reason, the following should be processed as part of the internship project.

Responsibilities

• Recording and description of the railcar transshipment process from the point of view of data recording, transmission and processing (RTC number, product, weight, etc.) and creation of a process overview
• Identification of the various systems used for data transmission, their compatibility and interfaces
• Development of an optimization concept for step-by-step automation with concrete recommendations for the future
• Collaboration with various employees such as shippers, schedulers, planners, rail team, billing, maintenance, and IT
• Additionally : Creation of a dashboard for tracking the TARGET / ACTUAL specifications of the required loading and unloading quantities
