What would you do as a Senior Systems Administrator :

Cadence Coalition is on the lookout for experienced IT Specialists to support crucial Department of Defense initiatives. As a Linux Systems Administrator, you will play a pivotal role in configuring, optimizing, and maintaining Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) systems. You'll troubleshoot and secure Linux environments that are vital for global military operations. Your efforts will ensure high availability and peak performance of critical infrastructure, all while driving innovation through automation and modernization.

Systems Administrators (SA) will be responsible for supporting systems and applications on a geographically dispersed Enterprise network with multiple types of servers and server applications. The SA will be responsible for system administrator functions supporting a global Active Directory infrastructure in a mixed platform environment. The SA will provide senior level knowledge and Tier 1 / 2 / 3 support to the customer and their components to include Tier 1 / 2 / 3 infrastructure troubleshooting and support that involves the configuration and administration of servers in their area of operation.

Additionally, the SA will provide remote support and / or travel to customer servers and sites as required. The ideal candidate will have experience maintaining and supporting network devices consisting of primarily Cisco routers and switches. Using this knowledge, the system administrator will be successful in providing necessary administration and maintenance support of this system.

Responsibilities :

  • Manage and monitor system resources to ensure optimal performance, including performing capacity planning and implementing best practices for system optimization.
  • Administer Linux-based systems by handling tasks such as installation, configuration, patching, and security hardening, adhering to DISA STIG requirements for system security.
  • Support automation of system administration tasks using shell scripting or tools like Ansible, GitLab, AWX / AAP, PowerShell, and participate in the development of CI / CD pipelines for future automation efforts.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, providing limited support for Windows and networking systems when necessary.
  • Contribute to incident resolution by troubleshooting system issues in real time, delivering Tier 2 / 3 support for Linux-based systems and applications.
  • Systems and tools you may work with include, but are not limited to : ServiceNow, RHEL, Ubuntu, NXLog / SYSLog, Red Hat Satellite, Content Delivery Nodes, AWX / Ansible Automation Platform, GitLab, Clevis & Tang, Apache, and Splunk.
  • Hands-on experience with automation tools like Ansible, Bash scripting, or similar technologies.
  • A solid understanding of networking fundamentals (TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP).
  • Security awareness with experience implementing best practices to ensure system integrity and compliance.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, particularly in a Linux environment and working with the DOD.
  • Ensure the security of business systems and applications, mitigating new vulnerabilities to meet the latest Cyber / IA requirements.
  • Review and prepare documentation for systems, tests and installation of software.
  • Investigate and recommend methods and techniques for obtaining solutions.
  • Administer systems / environment solutions for multiple projects with varying schedules.
  • Interface with vendors for trouble calls.
  • Support the planning of system / environment requirements for individual projects.
  • May provide work direction and guidance to others.

Qualifications :

  • Hold an active TS / SCI security clearance
  • BA / BS + 3 years recent specialized or AA / AS +7 years recent specialized or a major cert + 7 years recent specialized or 11 years of recent specialized experience
  • RedHat Certified Solutions Associate or greater, Linux+, LPIC (1,2, or 3), or comparable computer certification
  • CompTIA Security + (IAT Level II or greater)
  • Desired Qualifications :

  • ITIL v3 - Foundation
  • Automation using Microsoft PowerShell, VBScript, or batch files
  • Experience with Microsoft SCCM Experience working in VmWare ESXi environments.
  • Experience with network storage (SAN / NAS).
  • Experience with enterprise backup solutions.
  • Adaptable to changing circumstances and operational needs.
  • Understanding of Department of Defense Military standards.
  • Experience working with and supporting Cisco Routers and Switches
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (VMware, KVM) and containerization (Docker, Openshift, Kubernetes) is a plus.
