Chief Engineer - Central Europe
Job Title : Chief Engineer Central Europe
Location : Based in Düsseldorf Hybrid 2 / 3 split
Salary : €90-110k + 15% bonus + Company Car
Overview :
We are seeking a proactive and hands-on Chief Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role involves leading a team of engineers across multiple locations, including Germany, Amsterdam, Luxembourg, Vienna, and Prague, while being based in Düsseldorf.
The position requires frequent travel to various hotels to support teams, oversee openings and closings, and ensure smooth operations.
Although primarily an office-based role, you must be ready to provide on-the-ground support when necessary.
Requirements :
This role requires a fluent German speaker.
Technical Expertise :
- Engineering Background : A degree in engineering (mechanical, electrical, civil, etc.) is essential.
- Facilities Management : Deep knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and other critical hotel systems.
- Sustainability Practices : Experience with energy management, sustainability initiatives, and environmental regulations.
- Technology Savvy : Proficiency with modern building management systems (BMS) and maintenance management software.
Management Skills :
- Leadership : Strong leadership skills to manage a diverse team across multiple locations.
- Project Management : Expertise in planning, executing, and overseeing large-scale projects.
- Budget Management : Experience in creating and managing budgets, controlling costs, and ensuring financial efficiency.
- Vendor Relations : Ability to negotiate and manage relationships with contractors and suppliers.
Regional Knowledge :
- Regulatory Compliance : Understanding of local building codes, safety regulations, and environmental laws in different countries within Central Europe.
- Cultural Sensitivity : Awareness of cultural differences and practices across the region to effectively manage teams and projects.
Soft Skills :
- Problem-Solving : Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex technical issues.
- Communication : Excellent communication skills for interacting with hotel management, staff, and external stakeholders.
- Adaptability : Flexibility to handle the varying demands and unexpected challenges across multiple properties.
Experience :
- Hospitality Industry : Extensive experience with a similar multi-property role. Retail, restaurants or hotels.
- International Experience : Prior experience working in different countries, ideally within Central Europe, to understand the regional market and operational differences.
