The Role
Barings has ambitious plans for the growth and expansion of the DACH market and is seeking to recruit a Managing Director, who will lead the DACH distribution team to further develop and drive business activities across BARINGS' liquid and illiquid capabilities in institutional and wealth channels.
Primary Responsibilities
- Overall responsibility for Distribution in the DACH region, covering institutional and wealth channels and across Barings’ full suite of investment capabilities and products.
- Design and implementation of the firm’s distribution strategy and business plans to expand third-party capital and client growth within the DACH region.
- Direct sales coverage and targets for some institutional clients and prospects.
- Management responsibility for the DACH distribution team.
Key areas of focus include
- Design, implement and support the business plan for DACH distribution, consistent with the global and regional strategy and business plans.
- Enhance and develop client and consultant relationships to grow our third-party business.
- Add talent for support and to build resiliency into the coverage model.
- Collaborate with Investment and functional teams to ensure we continue to develop a scalable product set suitable and marketable for success across the region.
- Working within the Barings’ global client engagement model, facilitate and manage the complete sales cycle and be accountable for identifying, qualifying, and winning business.
- Set a high standard of team collaboration, embrace and be an ambassador for the firms’ culture and set the appropriate tone for the business by fostering innovation and change while preserving the continuity and strengths of the firm’s existing business.
- Leverage the firm’s relationship with existing clients in helping to develop and execute proactive contact initiatives.
Qualifications
- 12+ years of sales / distribution experience in a global, large-scale asset management firm.
- An established network and relationships; a proven track record of sales in DACH markets; and experience managing a sales / distribution team.
- Strong understanding and experience with some or all of the following asset classes : public and private fixed income, real estate debt and equity, and listed equities, and their application and value to different client sectors.
- You have strong awareness of the regulatory frameworks we operate in and can understand how the business can adapt to regulatory change.
- With an outstanding reputation as a trusted sales professional, you have an understanding of the institutional and wealth investor mindset and possess a high level of familiarity with investor relations and legal / regulatory compliance.
- You are emotionally intelligent, team oriented, and possess outstanding leadership skills.
- Analytical rigor and ethical integrity are essential qualifications.
- You are results oriented and focused on business outcomes rather than activity.
- Demonstrated strengths in both entrepreneurship and enterprise management.
- You are a thought leader with excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships across diverse cultures.
