Salary : £100,000-£120,000 per annum
Our client is currently seeking a Power Project Manager, who speaks German, for upcoming Data Centre Projects in both Berlin and Frankfurt, Germany.
The role entails leading the technical aspects, particularly in power, including managing power connection agreements, energy agreements, power infrastructure, and overall power coordination across multiple buildings or campuses.
This role is crucial in ensuring timely and budget-conscious delivery of necessary agreements in coordination with utilities for both new and existing data centre projects.
As a key member of the Design & Engineering team, the Power Project Manager will act as a subject matter expert (SME) in power and energy matters, facilitating all activities related to utility relationships, regulations, and coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate efficient collaboration with utility providers to acquire necessary agreements, ensure compliance with specifications, and maintain ongoing communication.
- Supervise the deployment of utility infrastructure for power delivery to project sites, ensuring adherence to technical requirements and timely delivery.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for all power-related matters, coordinating effectively with utility providers, GC / OEMs SMEs, the Design & Engineering team, and other project stakeholders.
- Collaborate with design and construction teams to ensure alignment with power requirements and critical success factors.
- Manage the critical path for power delivery, including planning and permitting activities, to ensure prompt availability on-site.
- Address power availability issues with utility providers and implement alternative solutions when necessary to maintain uninterrupted operations.
- Develop and execute strategies to mitigate power-related risks, maintain comprehensive change registers, and update project risk registers accordingly.
- Oversee subcontracting activities related to power, including connection agreements, design contracts, and regulatory compliance.
- Engage with regional projects to identify common risks, share lessons learned, and drive continuous improvement in power management practices.
- Ensure compliance with organizational and regulatory standards related to power operations and collaborate with energy and sustainability teams to optimize operational efficiency.
Skills & Attributes
- Experience with local grid and network operators, including knowledge of grid / network code requirements and regulatory standards.
- Proven track record of acquiring and managing utility connection agreements, usage agreements, metering agreements, and energy supply agreements.
- Strong relationship-building skills with regional utility and energy providers.
- Ability to analyze networks and re-engineer electrical schemes to meet technical, commercial, and regulatory needs across various voltage levels.
- Proficiency in leading the design and delivery of medium-voltage (MV) and / or high-voltage (HV) infrastructure.
- End-to-end support for stakeholders in delivering necessary power contracts and infrastructure.
- Up-to-date knowledge of utility and energy legislation.
Education & Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of experience in power delivery with utility and power infrastructure design and management.
- Project management certification such as PMP or Prince2.
- Extensive experience working with local utilities and energy service providers.
- Successful track record in acquiring utility connection agreements, usage agreements, metering agreements, energy supply agreements, and HV / MV infrastructure delivery.
- Experience in on-time delivery of power from local utilities onsite.
- Preference given to experience in project management within MV to EHV systems.
- Background in electrical / power engineering preferred.
