Fugro’s Legal function is a global function organized by specialization or region. The colleagues in the Legal team for the Europe & Africa region provide legal support to the Fugro organization and businesses from various locations in Europe.
The team works together closely, sharing best practices and know-how.
WHAT YOU TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR IN YOUR JOB
You will act as principal Legal Counsel and trusted advisor to Fugro’s organization and businesses in Germany for all legal matters.
Your responsibilities will include :
- Drafting, reviewing, negotiating, and advising on commercial contracts with our clients and supporting the commercial and business development teams in tender processes
- Supporting the project teams with contentious matters during the execution phase of a project
- Advising and providing training on Fugro’s internal policies and guidelines
- Developing procedural improvements and standardization to enhance efficiency in legal support.
- Managing outside counsel in Germany
- You will work together with other members of the legal team on legal and related matters, such as intellectual property and compliance (sanctions, export control, speak-up, anti-bribery and data protection), and with other corporate functions, such as insurance, treasury, and tax.

WHAT YOU NEED TO BRING
- A degree in German civil law
- Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience at a law firm or as an in-house lawyer
- Good knowledge of German contract law and experience in drafting and negotiating contracts
- Experience operating in an international environment.
- Understanding of industry standards (such as FIDIC / VOB / VOL) is a plus.
- Strong analytical, counseling and communication skills, and sound legal, ethical, and commercial judgment
- Team-player, proactive, flexible and with a practical mindset
- Excellent written and spoken German and English
