MEC Engineering Manager (m/w/d)

Our Molex team is looking for a Mechanical Engineering Team Leader (m / f / d) with a strong background in automotive product development and experience managing local and remote teams.
In this role you will oversee our automotive product development team. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, leadership skills, communication proficiency and project management experience to drive innovation and excellence in product design and manufacturing.

What You Will Do
- Lead and manage a team of mechanical engineers and designers in the development of automotive products from concept to production.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, procurement, and sales, to ensure project alignment with company goals and customer requirements.
- Oversee the design of mechanical components and systems, ensuring they meet performance, cost, manufacturability, and reliability targets.
- Apply expertise in molding processes, sheet metal fabrication, thermal management, and other relevant technologies to create robust designs.
- Conduct thermal and structural simulations to validate designs and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in design practices, processes, and tools to enhance team efficiency and product quality.
- Manage project schedules, resources, and budgets to ensure timely delivery of milestones.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to team members, fostering a culture of innovation and professional growth.
- Liaise with suppliers and vendors to select materials and components, while considering cost, quality, and sustainability.
- Prepare and review technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and validation reports.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant safety and regulatory requirements.
- Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and root cause analysis to support robust product development
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design and product development within the automotive industry.
- Proven leadership experience and the ability to manage and inspire a team.
- Strong proficiency in CAD tools (e.g., NX, SolidWorks, CATIA, AutoCAD) and simulation software (e.g., ANSYS, COMSOL).

- Knowledge of automotive industry standards and best practices.
- Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM), design for assembly (DFA), and failure mode and effects analysis (FMEA).
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a strong analytical mindset.
- Strong communication (German and English) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate complex technical concepts effectively.
