Our client is one of the world’s largest groups within the gambling industry, with annual sales exceeding €3bn. They operate large scale businesses in both B2B and B2C markets.

Within the B2C space, our client operates an online sports betting and casino business across several European markets. They are now making some ambitious and forward-thinking strategic changes, aimed at growing market share across Germany, Austria, Belgium, and Denmark.

They are now looking to recruit a Senior Compliance Specialist to join the business in Germany and support the business as it implements exciting changes.

Role

You will report to the Head of Compliance and work across both sports and casino online product verticals. You will focus primarily on regulatory compliance issues, but at times there will be some technical compliance responsibilities.

Your role will focus on the German market on a day to day basis, but you will also collaborate extensively with local market compliance specialists in Austria, Denmark, and Belgium, providing them with guidance and support from a group perspective.

Key responsibilities include :

• Work on the development and implementation of internal compliance manuals, strategies, procedures and systems in coordination with the respective specialist departments.
• Monitor licensing requirements, observe regulatory developments and develop appropriate measures. If necessary, you will communicate directly with the relevant supervisory authorities.
• Carry out risk analysis and derive the necessary measures from them. This also includes support in the assessment of player-related and business risks.
• Provide regular reporting on relevant compliance matters and project status to the Head of Compliance and management in the form of structured compliance reports.
• Responsible for coordinating the review of contracts in consultation with the legal department and handling ad hoc requests from regulatory authorities.
• Represent the Head of Compliance in their absence and devote yourself to compliance training programs to ensure an appropriate level of knowledge.

This also includes advising the group of companies on meeting compliance requirements in the areas of gambling law, money laundering prevention, responsible gambling and data protection.

Requirements

To be considered for this exciting opportunity you must be an experienced compliance professional. Experience in the gambling industry is not essential as we are also interested in receiving applications from candidates with experience in other regulated industries, for example finance.

Key requirements include :

• Successfully completed degree in law, business law or comparable training
• Several years of professional experience in compliance
• Profound experience in data protection and project management
• Good knowledge of gambling law is an advantage, but not essential
• Initiative, structured working methods, sense of responsibility and analytical thinking skills
• Responsible handling of sensitive information (loyalty and confidentiality)
• Fluent German and business-fluent English skills, both written and spoken
