The junior professorship with tenure track is aimed at academics in the early career phase.The Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is looking to appoint an outstanding individual to aJunior Professorship (W 1) of Practical Theology (Tenure Track to W3)within the Faculty of Theology, Institute for Systematic Theology, Practical Theology and Religious Studies.
The position will commence preferably as soon as possible.The Faculty of Theology at Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg is an institution rich in tradition with global connections and a profile relevant to the present day.
It endeavours to develop theology in the sense of context-sensitive and ecumenically open research and teaching. It is looking for a person who will contribute to this objective with creativity and a willingness to innovate and who will actively participate in the faculty's research networks and the university's profile line Transformation .
The aim is to raise the profile of the advertised professorship in interdisciplinary, intercultural and interreligious exchange.
The post holder must represent the subject of practical theology in teaching and research in collaboration with the Chair of Protestant Religious Education.
The person to be appointed should have an outstanding dissertation and relevant practical experience in a practical theological specialisation.
He / she should be able to meet the expectation of developing a practical theological profile within the framework of the junior professorship, which positions this discipline as part of an innovative theology and, after the tenure track (from the planned W3 professorship), brings it further into the academic and public dialogue.
Of course, this also includes the ongoing development of English-language programmes at the faculty in research and teaching.
Further duties and responsibilities are stipulated in section 34 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities.Applicants must fulfill the requirements of being appointed according to Section 40 of the Saxony-Anhalt State Law of Universities.
In particular, the prerequisites for employment are a completed university degree, pedagogical ability and a particular aptitude for scientific work, which is usually demonstrated by the outstanding quality of a doctorate.
As a rule, the time period between the final doctoral degree examination and the application for this junior professorship should not exceed six year (family-related reductions in working hours are taken into account appropriately when assessing the academic age).
Junior professorships are filled on the basis of a temporary civil service contract, initially for a period of three years.
The position shall be renewed for a further three years conditional upon a positive mid-term evaluation. Upon a positive tenure evaluation, and without a new vacancy announcement, there is a transition to a permanent W3 professorship.
If the general legal requirements are met, this transition includes appointment through a lifelong civil servant relationship, or alternatively, transfer to an indefinite private-law employment relationship.
