Software Engineer (m/f/d)

Position Description:

In this role, you will contribute to software systems that support critical European space missions and enable real-world impact in areas such as navigation, Earth observation, and space exploration.

Your future duties and responsibilities:

As part of a motivated team, you will take on a responsible role in the development and maintenance of software projects in the space domain, working closely with our clients. You will apply modern software engineering practices, with a focus on sustainable design and high software quality.
• Contribute to software projects in the space domain (coding, documentation, unit testing)
• Design and implement software components, including writing and maintaining unit tests
• Further develop existing modules and resolve defects in existing systems
• Communicate with customers regarding features, improvements, and issue resolution to ensure effective support

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:

• A degree in computer science, physics, electrical engineering, mathematics, or a comparable field — or equivalent practical experience
• Initial practical experience with programming (e.g., through projects, internships, or professional work)
• Knowledge of C++ and/or Java; experience with scripting languages is a plus
• Basic experience with Linux/Unix, ideally including command-line usage
• Analytical, structured, and reliable working style
• Strong willingness to learn and interest in complex technical systems
• Ability to work effectively in a team
• Excellent written and spoken English; German is a plus
