COWI is currently seeking a skilled and experienced Substation Control Engineer to join our team at COWI
As a Substation Control Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing and implementing control systems for high-voltage substations. We are a team of 60 electrical engineers situated in Lyngby, working alongside our global customers on some of the most significant and prestigious projects within the connection of renewable energy to the grid and ensuring continued electrification in a liveable world.
Your key responsibilities will be:
- Design, develop, and implement control systems for high-voltage substations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the integration of control systems into overall substation design
- Conduct detailed analysis of control requirements and develop robust solutions
- Maintain and upgrade existing control systems to meet changing needs
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to control systems
- Provide technical support and guidance to project teams and clients
- Stay updated with industry trends and advancements in substation control systems

On top of that, we expect:
- You hold a bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum 4 years of experience in designing and implementing control systems for high-voltage substations
- Expertise in substation control equipment, including protection relays, RTUs, SCADA systems, and communication protocols
- Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, or IEC -3
- Solid knowledge of substation automation standards and protocols (e.g., IEC )
- Ability to work on your own and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously
- Effective problem-solving and communication skills
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional certifications in substation control systems or relevant areas. Experience with market-leading protection relays and control panels
- Familiarity with power system simulation software (e.g., PSS/E, ETAP, DIgSILENT)
- Knowledge of cybersecurity practices and standards in substation control systems
