IOER Fellowship

We offer leading inter-/national scholars the opportunity to advance their research work in close collaboration with the Institute through an IOER Fellowship. Selected through an international competitive call for applications, IOER Fellowship holders receive comprehensive support for pursuing innovative inter-/transdisciplinary research activities firmly linked to the IOER scientific profile. The Fellowship can extend over a period of one to six months and implies working at the Institute during this time. Calls for applications in this programme are issued twice a year (March and September).

Preparing your application

If you are interested in becoming an IOER Fellow and comply with the prerequisites indicated below please prepare your application including the following:

• Motivation letter
• Curriculum vitae (incl. current position, academic and professional experiences, list of publications, funding acquisitions and networking activities)
• Research proposal for your stay at IOER (2-4 pages excl. references), linked to relevant IOER research topics and collaborators
• Work plan (indicating the desired schedule, tasks, outputs and targeted impacts)

Provisions

• Monthly scholarship | €1,500 for full calendar months, otherwise pro rata
• Duration of one to three months with a flexible starting date
• Travel cost coverage (roundtrip for stay at IOER)
• Monthly accommodation allowance | up to €1,000 for full calendar months, otherwise pro rata
• Individual fellowship collaboration team involving IOER researchers
• Work place and access to all research support facilities and services at the IOER

Prerequisites

• Holder of professorship or senior scientist position (incl. lecturer and other equivalents)
• Internationally leading research profile and excellent track record (funding acquisition, publications, transfer and networking activities)
• Innovative and highly focused research proposal firmly linked to the IOER mission statement, research programme and team members
• Clear proposition regarding the targeted added value and specific synergies of the Fellowship at the IOER regarding joint research, transfer and future collaborations
• Strong output and impact orientation for the Fellowship and sound work plan

Purpose

• IOER Fellowships are aimed at fostering collaborations in a longer-term perspective, building on and integrating ongoing research activities on both sides. They are not conceived to support substantive additional empirical work.
