Junior Software Engineer

Role Overview

Join FMC's digital transformation journey on site at the headquarters in Dresden (Germany) as a Junior Software Engineer (m/f/d) by developing smart software solutions that connect systems, automate workflows and turn data into actionable business processes. You will build, maintain, document and continuously improve applications and scripts that support teams across the company.
Using cutting-edge AI development tools such as GitHub, Copilot and Anthropic Claude you will help drive innovation while supporting users in adopting new technologies. Alongside software development, you will assist with general IT topics and contribute to an efficient and modern digital workplace.

Must Have

• Bachelor in informatics, artificial intelligence, data science or similar areas (minimum required study degree)
• Passion for software development and digital technologies.
• Interest in AI-powered software development and modern development tools.

Responsibilities

• Partner closely with employees across FMC to understand business needs and design, develop, document, maintain and continuously improve software solutions, applications and automation tools that streamline business processes.
• Build data-driven applications and integrations that extract, transform and connect information from cloud-based platforms and enterprise systems to support efficient workflows and decision-making.
• Drive digitalization initiatives by identifying opportunities to automate manual tasks and improve operational efficiency through innovative technology solutions.
• Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the entire application lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design to implementation, deployment, training and ongoing support.
• Stay up to date with emerging technologies, particularly AI-assisted software development and evaluate how tools such as GitHub Copilot, Anthropic Claude and other modern technologies can create value for FMC.
• Provide user support and technical guidance for AI-powered development tools and business applications, promoting their effective adoption across the organization.
• Support the IT Help Desk team in troubleshooting and resolving user requests, ensuring a reliable and productive IT environment.

Your profile

• Experience through university projects, internships, working student positions or personal projects involving software development and data processing.
• Basic knowledge of developing applications with graphical user interfaces (GUIs).
• Strong analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of tasks.
• Fluent English, German is a plus.
