The last 5-10 years have seen the IT industry move away from on-premise solutions towards service delivery via cloud-based services.
Oracle’s cloud has grown substantially over this time, and Oracle has become a leader in AI technology. We require a forward-thinking, strategic, highly motivated individual to lead our Data Centre Operations in Germany.

About the Role :
Reporting the EMEA Senior Director, you have full responsibility for all physical OCI infrastructure in Germany. This role is responsible for full lifecycle activities in our Data Centers, from site selection and design through build, operation, and decommissioning.
You will be managing managers (both directly and via matrix management), and individual contributors while dealing with multiple facets that encompass operating in a globally consistent manner and adhering to regional requirements (e.
g labour laws, health & safety codes, regulations etc.).
You will manage the Data Centre operational business ensuring that all KPIs are met, and operations run smoothly and continue to build new sites.
Candidate will be responsible for :
- Providing leadership, direction and strategy across our German territory.
- Building and leading a new DCO organization in Germany.
- Working with geographically distributed teams and contributing to the success of his / her organization and other related teams.
- Coaching and mentoring managers and individual contributors across the organization.
- Growing the team by recruiting and retaining top talent.
- Delivering large-scale projects on-time with high quality.
- Collaborating and working effectively with various teams across the organization at both a technical level and a business level.
- Ensuring all sites are delivered to a standardized, high-quality bar, and this quality is sustained, day on day, week on week, year on year.
- Holding others to account as needed to ensure we meet our quality & delivery goals.
- Defining and contributing to global objectives to move the organization forwards.
As a Director of German Data Centre Operations, you will lead the region and be responsible for the overall availability of Oracle’s Cloud Infrastructure.
You should be able to dive deep into any part of the stack and higher-level system interactions. You should value simplicity and scale, work comfortably in a collaborative, agile environment, and be excited to learn.
You should have a demonstrated track record working in the industry, already having worked at hyperscale in previous positions.
You should be fully versed in Data Centre build, live operations management, change control and be familiar with LEAN and 5S.
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Working with world-class global teams to implement and support cutting-edge Oracle technology in Cloud Data Centres requires an experienced manager with a proven ability to lead from the front who can thrive in a complex matrix environment.
To maximize the quality of delivery and reliability of our sites you will :
- Work across multiple LOB effectively, negotiating and bringing together stakeholders & teams to ensure success for Oracle.
- Negotiating and working with local vendors to deliver a strategy to will drive performance and meet quality expectations.
This encompasses LV cabling vendors through to Colocation partners.
- Work closely with Human Resources within the regions to ensure the best possible relationship and care for your Oracle employees.
- Focus and prioritize appropriately on what is most important to Oracle at any given time as priorities can shift quickly.
- Drive scalability practices to ensure efficiencies across your organization and space.
Project work will also be a crucial part of the engagement, you will also :
- Lead the implementation of multi-functional projects and / or systems.
- Manage scope, expectations, implementation approach, deliverables and acceptance testing criteria, whilst appropriately managing risk.
- Driving the delivery of improvements. Interacting across functional areas to ensure objectives are met.
- Driving the development of short, medium, and long-term plans and regularly interacting across functional areas with executives to achieve strategic objectives.
You should be able to :
- Demonstrate a track record of influencing thinking and gaining acceptance of others in sensitive situations.
- Be proactive at all times, resolving issues before they become critical.
- Work independently without escalation or supervision.
- Manage upwards effectively to VP level, with succinct, clear communication, and a solution-first approach.
- Manage individual contributors where you do not have direct authority over them.
- Resolve conflicts without escalation, by negotiation, understanding and mediating as necessary.
- Lead by example at all times.
- Be fully versed in managing risk (both project delivery and infrastructure management).
- Be able to devise plans, and strategies, bringing others on the journey with you.
- Be continuously learning about new technology advantages related to Data Centres (e.g. power density, cooling, cabling, critical load management) a SME in at least two areas.

What you need to know to be successful in this role :
- 8+ years of proven Data Centre leadership and management at hyperscale levels.
- A deep understanding of managing resources across global teams and the local laws that can affect this.
- In-depth knowledge of the Data Center ecosystem. (cooling, electrical, networking, structured cabling, etc.)
- 5 years or more of Vendor relationship management and negotiations.
- Deep experience with distributed, highly scalable, multi-node environments.
- Written and Spoken fluency in English & German
- Strong multi-culture awareness.
- Strong HR relationship and negotiating skills at a business level to achieve objectives.
- Degree educated in a related scientific or engineering discipline.
