About the team and the role :

We are about to launch a brand-new engineering hub in Germany. Several new engineering teams within the area of payments will be created from scratch in our Dreilinden office close to Berlin.

We are looking for a StaffSoftware Engineer, Full Stack (d / f / m) who will be part of one of these new teams and who can help us build exciting products for our financial services at eBay.

You will be working on new experiences for millions of customers, such as supporting our sellers in understanding finances better and enabling seamless business operations.

You will lead the development of modern Java / Spring Boot web applications by developing system designs, helping to define the technical roadmap, steering the team on all technical aspects, and implementing code.

You will report to a Senior Manager of engineering, as well as work closely with the wider engineering team of the new engineering hub.

What you will accomplish :

Help the more junior team members by mentoring and guiding them, drive architectural decisions, align technical decisions with the broader organization, and evolve the roadmap to meet anticipated future requirements.

Understand requirements of new products and translate these requirements into a scalable software architecture.

Implement Java / Spring Boot based back-end web services, as well as front-end web applications based on Javascript (React and similar frameworks), NodeJS, HTML, and CSS.

Assure delivery of high-quality software by setting up robust CI / CD pipelines, designing and writing tests, contributing to code reviews and code debugging, and by writing documentation.

Own major projects and features from design phase to coding, testing, deployment and support.

Become a domain expert of the highly complex ecosystem of payments within eBay.

What you will bring :

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar technical degree, with 7 years of experience designing and developing highly scalable web applications.

In-depth experience in translating requirements into scalable and future-proof software architectures. Broad knowledge of design patterns and technologies used in designing web applications.

Proficiency in back-end development of RESTful web services using Java / Spring Boot / J2EE.

Hands-on experience in Javascript, popular front-end frameworks like React, HTML5, TypeScript and CSS3.

Working knowledge of tools such as Jira, Git is required.

Familiar with writing unit tests with mocking.

eBay requires employees to be present in the Dreilinden office three days per week on average
