Backend Software Engineer

Location : Berlin, office-first

SumUp enables businesses to get paid easily, process orders quickly, sell online instantly, and manage their money more efficiently.

As a Backend Engineer in the Purchase Squad (Growth Tribe), you'll work on our purchase flow's emerce and logistics backend applications (Go, event-driven, modular monolith service architecture).

You will help thousands of new and existing merchants across the globe to buy a new SumUp hardware device or service. You'll subsequently have a significant impact on our merchants' lives! All of this with state-of-the-art backend technologies and in a collaborative environment.

You'll be great for this role if

• You have extensive experience with backend technologies and database technologies
• You are interested in learning Golang and ideally already have first experience with it
• You are a pragmatic problem solver and are fearless in taking the lead in finding the right solution to a problem.
• Provide thoughtful testing for your features before shipping them.
• You have excellentmunication skills, are good at technical writing, are passionate about software design, care about the right abstractions and clean APIs, and radically prioritize simplicity.

Nice to have

Previous experience in Emerce and some expertise in Typescript / Javascript.

The Purchase Squad (Growth Tribe) mission is to provide a seamless shopping and delivery experience that inspires confidence in new and existing merchants to enable them to be part of the SumUp ecosystem.

At SumUp, all squads are cross-functional and co-located product teams. We empower every member to impact feature design, prioritization, and delivery significantly.

You'll be able to help shape the future of the team and the future of SumUp's Engineering and Product organization.

We work with state-of-the-art backend and frontend technologies, scalable services in Go, and building great web applications in NextJS (Typescript).

We make features that significantly impact and are used by millions of SumUp merchants worldwide. A lot of our work is done through experimentation and A / B testing.
