Attenborough School in Sennelager, Germany provides education for primary children from 2 11 years, with the possibility of further extension to the school to 13 years (Years 7 and 8).

We are a rapidly growing school and at this time there are approximately 100 children on roll. Proudly providing education for the children of UK MOD personnel, our school operates in a pleasant part of a military garrison, surrounded by woods on generous real-estate.

Due to increasing numbers of pupils on roll and predicted future growth, we re currently recruiting for an Assistant Headteacher, additional teachers and support staff.

This school and the community need an inspiring teacher who can work in partnership with the Headteacher and all members of the school community to ensure the needs of the service children continue to be met;

demonstrate our WE CARE values and help the school to move forward in this exciting period of growth and expansion.

The Ministry of Defence employs over 50,000 Civil Servants. Within that, the Army Top Level Budget (TLB) employs around 7,000 MOD Civil Servants located at over 300 locations.

Ours is a diverse workforce, with roles ranging from trainers, human resources, teachers, and psychologists to storekeepers, financiers, project and programme managers, and policy secretariat staff.

There are many different functions and professions delivering key outputs for the Army. As such using data to aid understanding of our workforce is vital.

This is a full-time position for an Assistant Headteacher.

Specially recruited for overseas service appointees are not expected to return to the UK.

Job description

• Lead and contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of the school s policies, School improvement Plan, self-evaluation, practices and procedures, so as to support the school s WE CARE values and vision.
• Lead on performance as line manager for colleagues, ensuring that they are supported, valued and held to account for their performance.
• Make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school, setting high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge pupils, staff and parents.
• Support coordination of our Global Citizenship curriculum offer ensuring intent, implementation and impact is consistently successful across our school.
• Lead and participate in the monitoring and evaluation of quality of education being achieved across the school
• Leading whole school events including regular assemblies, enhanced curriculum activities and parent workshops as required.
• Lead whole school improvement projects and areas of responsibility such as internal CPD assessment, induction processes and Safeguarding.
• Undertaking a part-time teaching commitment, including additional covering of classes where required.
• Demonstrate good subject and knowledge of the extant Early Years Foundation Stage and National Curriculum for England. A subject strength in PE is desirable.
• Provide regular updates on pupil progress through written reports and meetings with parents.
• Support teachers to develop and implement effective teaching and behaviour management approaches in the classroom.
• Develop and maintain systems for keeping pupil records, ensuring information is accurate and up to date.
• Analyse school, local and national data and develop appropriate strategies and interventions.
• Adhere to the expectations outlined in the extant DFE Teacher Standards and work towards achieving the Headteacher Standards.

Person specification

The post holder will be required to hold Qualified Teacher status and demonstrate the following essential skills, knowledge and experience :

• Recent experience of teaching the National Curriculum for England for a minimum of 5 years and senior leadership experience ( leadership of a key stage) in a UK based or DCS school.
• Evidence of high-quality teaching, setting high expectations and proven experience of ensuring good progress and outcomes for all pupils.
• Good subject and curriculum knowledge of the National Curriculum and Early Years Foundation Stage for England, with expertise in PE desirable.
• Successful experience of modelling, coaching and supporting colleagues to achieve improvement.
• Proven experience of making accurate assessments, and using assessment tools, that inform planning and enable pupils to improve.
• Proven experience of adapting teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of all pupils.
• Demonstrate effective behaviour management that ensures a good and safe learning environment.
• Willing to make a positive contribution to the wider life and ethos of the school.

• Knowledge and understanding of supporting the needs of dependant children of military personnel
• Demonstrates a resilient, passionate and hardworking outlook, flexible approach and projects a professional image.

Qualifications

Qualified Teacher Status as defined by the Department for Education.

Evidence of qualification will be required at interview.

All qualifications / licences declared must be held at point of application and if applicable be in date.

Equivalent Qualifications will not be accepted.
