Engineering Manager - Platform (all genders)

We are looking for an Engineering Manager - Platform to join us in Berlin!

As an Engineering Manager for the platform group, you'll lead and support a team of engineers, ensuring their growth and success while driving the delivery of high-quality platform products.

You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management and data, to execute our product vision and strategy.

This role requires a blend of strong technical expertise, leadership capabilities, and a passion for building scalable, user-centric platform solutions.

You will play a critical role in fostering a collaborative and inclusive team environment while contributing to our mission to make language learning simple, enjoyable, and accessible to all.

You will :

• Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define and prioritize the platform roadmap.
• Drive the technical execution of projects, ensuring high-quality deliverables that align with business objectives and OKRs.
• Facilitate agile methodologies within the team, promoting the best software development and deployment practices.
• Encourage a DevOps culture within the team, ensuring end-to-end service ownership : you build, run, and own it.
• Conduct regular performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support the professional development of team members.
• Ensure the team maintains high technical excellence by staying current with industry trends and advancements.
• Promote a positive, inclusive work environment aligning with Babbel's values and DE&I principles.

You have :

• Proven experience managing and developing high-performing engineering teams.
• Strong technical background experience in software development, architecture, and system design.
• Exceptional leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities, adept at influencing and collaborating at various organizational levels.
• A customer-first mindset with a deep understanding of user needs and behaviors.
• A strong DevOps culture mindset that encourages ownership and accountability within the team.
