The Fraunhofer IGCV is the first Fraunhofer facility for production technology in Bavaria. We are shaping the future of efficient engineering, networked production, and intelligent multi-material solutions to ensure the sustainable competitiveness of Germany and Europe.
The "Fiber Placement & Composite Molding" team develops robot-assisted processes and production methods for the manufacture of high-performance fiber-reinforced composites (CFRP).
An important aspect of process planning is determining the production times for a given product. This is currently only possible through complex simulation, as there is a lack of comprehensive models.
There is an urgent need for models that enable fast and effective prediction, considering various aspects of the process to optimize process planning.
In addition, by using machine data, real production times can be recorded and used to validate such prediction models, which can significantly increase the efficiency and accuracy of process planning.
What you will do
Data collection and preparation from simulations and real machine data
Identification of relevant process parameters and aspects (feature engineering)
Selection of suitable methods and algorithms for the prediction models
Development, comparison and fine-tuning of the prediction models
Validation of the developed models using real production times
What you bring to the table
Studies in the field of data science, computer engineering or comparable
Knowledge of statistical methods and machine learning
Knowledge of the programming languages Python and / or R
Ideally initial experience with common ML libraries and frameworks such as TensorFlow, Keras, Scikit-Learn or similar
Interest in the application of IoT in an industrial environment
Reliable and independent way of working
