Hauptaufgaben

Serves as Construction / Engineering Technician and provides planning, development, coordination, and guidance on maintenance, repair, and minor construction on all Roads & Grounds areas throughout the USAG Wiesbaden Military Community.

Nature and scope of work involves maintenance, repair and improvements of grounds, roads, parking areas, sidewalks and airfields, landscaping services for improved and un-improved grounds to include planting and vegetation control, weed control, tree maintenance, erosion control and stabilization as well as traffic management.

Establishes preliminary plans or sketches for discussion with supervisor or subject matter experts. Serves as construction site and project manager for engineering repair projects and as such is responsible for initial to end planning, design, specifications, execution, and final billing.

Independently prepares documentation for submission to the servicing contracting office and oversees the design and construction of such projects.

As required, determines warranty application for subsequent deficiencies. Monitors and inspects work of contracted personnel for repair and maintenance of structures, paved areas, sport fields, outdoor recreation areas, repair and clearing of perimeter fence line, disposal of organic waste, excavation work for all kind of utilities lines, improvement of erosion control and pollution prevention.

In all phases or work involvement, consideration is given to energy conservation, environmental, occupational safety, and health regulations.

Reviews and studies, plans and drawings for maintenance and repair type projects and makes interpretations of same, referring unique, unusual aspects or discrepancies in drawings or specifications to supervisor.

Checks plans, specifications, drawings, cost estimates and other supporting material for completeness, consistency, and adequacy in accordance with existing requirements.

Assists Contract Support and Engineering Services Branches in technical matters of design deficiencies and in the preparation of original designs for civil engineering installments.

Conducts work site studies to investigate current condition of structures, paved and unpaved roads, parking areas, railroads, improved and unimproved grounds to determine necessary technical data concerning extension, alteration, maintenance, or repair projects.

Provides assistance, guidance and solutions necessary for the Division to accomplish roads and grounds operation, snow and ice control, traffic management to include traffic signs and safety as well as improvement and analysis of landscaping, compliance with force protection and the utilization of renewable natural resources.

Coordinates with personnel within DPW, District Headquarters, Design / Construction Agencies, and Host Nation representatives as far as questions in the engineering field.

Independently prepares necessary correspondence related to the various components for clarification, decision, and signature.

Performs other duties as assigned.

E&T Level I, II and III : not creditable for this occupational series.

E&T Level IVB and IVC : A Meister Diploma or Staatlich gepruefter Techniker in a trades or crafts field directly related to the position;

PLUS 2 years of job related experience as defined below.

E&T Level IV A and D : not creditable for positions in this occupational series. E&T Level V : Graduation from a University or equivalent, e.

g., Fachhochschule, the Berufsakademie,or Technische Hochschule as Wirtschaftsingenieur, Ingenieur des Maschinenwesens, der Elekrotechnik oder des Bauwesens;

PLUS 1 year of job related experience as defined below.

Job Related Experience : Experience must be directly related to the area of specialization of the position and must be at a level of difficulty that compares to the grade of the position.

Advanced journeyman trades and crafts experience that provided intensive knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods and precedents is a prerequisite, e.

g., experience as a technician, instructor, inspector, or mechanic that shows progression in theoretical and practical knowledge of the area of specialization of the position.

• Applicants must be in possession of German driver's license class B
• Office automation skills are required

LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY LEVEL :

English and German Language Proficiency Level B2 required.
