Project Development Engineer

We are looking for a Project Development Engineer .

Main purpose of role :

• Responsible for managing, organizing, coordination and analyzing testing scopes for the evaluation and validation of child restraint systems and strollers as part of a project team using state-of-the-art tools and processes.
• Establish, promote, and drive evaluation and validation processes in tandem with Simulation Engineering. (CAE)
• Focus is on a physical driven evaluation / validation / qualification process based on current and future test environments / load cases to reach our objectives in performance, cost / weight, and feasibility.
• Develop concepts for passive safety in the field of child safety, considering legislation and consumer protection requirements.
• Define suitable methods for conducting tests, control their execution and take responsibility for the evaluation and interpretation of the results.
• Derive suitable solutions and approaches, incorporating them into the concept and series development in close coordination with project management.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities :

• Support application projects from the testing side at all stages of design and development to detected and eliminated potential weak points, to influence the design in a positive way regarding global and local performance criteria and to reduce / minimize modifications.
• Drive development processes based on current test environments (ECE R129, FMVSS, NCAP, ADAC, .) to achieve performance targets.
• Positively influence the design process in global and local application projects by improving performance and minimizing modifications at later design stages.
• Conception and conversion of technical requirements into functional solutions.
• Design and construct prototypes for in-vitro and in-vivo studies.
• Evaluation of suitable production and assembly processes.
• Carrying out patent searches and research on all applicable standards.
• Implementation of risk management.
• Preparation of the technical documentation for an approval compliant solution.

Candidate Profile (Education / Competencies Required / Functional Skills / Technical Skills) :

Education :

Completed university degree in the field of automotive engineering / aerospace engineering / mechanical engineering or a comparable qualification.

Experience :

• Professional experience in a corresponding position or field of work.
• Planning and management of test procedures.
• Evaluation and analysis of the test data and complex tasks.
• Personal interaction with test technicians and test labs.

Key Skills :

• Knowledge of crash analysis software, e.g. DIADEM.
• Knowledge of crash simulation software, e.g. LS Dyna, is an advantage.
• Competence in the use of MS Office applications.
• Fluent in business English and German.
