Our daily work in the area of Cell and Gene Therapies in the Pharma division is characterized by striving to develop world-class AAV manufacturing processes.

The position

You will join an expert team in Pharma Technical Cell and Gene Therapy (PTCG) in the area of Purification Process Development for viral vector based therapies. The objective of your work is to develop and implement technologies and processes for process development, production and characterization of recombinant viral vectors with a focus on AAV. As a member of a global team, you will work together with colleagues from different sites of the Roche group and also industry consortiums and academic institutions as collaboration partners.

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following tasks

Leading projects to develop and implement technologies that improve manufacturing processes for viral vectors focusing on AAV

Developing strategies to improve manufacturing productivity, robustness, and efficiency

Identifying, developing, and implementing new technologies used in the development and manufacturing of viral vectors

Proactive execution of projects by applying technical knowledge and practical skills in a laboratory and pilot plant setting and providing guidance and oversight for production in a GMP setting.

Maintaining a connection to field by contributing to, attending, and presenting at scientific meetings, publication of scientific advances, and interacting with the academic community

Contributing to improved process understanding and insights by working with digital tools and in our data ecosystems

Contributing to the submission of applications for clinical trials and marketing authorizations

Providing training and supervision for technicians and students

Who you are

You hold Masters Degree in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Virology or another related field with 3+ years of relevant experience

You have hands on experience in the field of AAVs and virus vector technology, including small / pilot scale production and process development

You are highly motivated and flexible to work on challenging projects with often uncertain outcomes

You are a team player but you also have the ability to work independently with excellent planning and organizational skills

You foster a collaborative and trusting relationship and enjoy working in an international environment

You are a continuous learner; looking to increase your technical and business knowledge while also learning new practical skills

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with success in influencing others

English skills, written and spoken, is mandatory,
