The University of Luxembourg is an international research university with a distinctly multilingual and interdisciplinary character.
The Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB) is an interdisciplinary research centre of the University of Luxembourg.
We conduct fundamental and translational research in the field of Systems Biology and Biomedicine - in the lab, in the clinic and in silico . We focus on neurodegenerative processes and are especially interested in Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease and their contributing factors. The LCSB recruits talented scientists from various disciplines : computer scientists, mathematicians, biologists, chemists, engineers, physicists and clinicians from more than 50 countries currently work at the LCSB. We excel because we are truly interdisciplinary, and together we contribute to science and society.
Your role
- Molecular biology techniques, including cloning, (q)PCR, vector design and production
- Preparation of DNA samples for sequencing and analysis of sequencing results
- Metabolite and RNA extraction, and sample preparation for metabolomics and transcriptomics analyses
- Set up and performance of various biochemical (e.g. enzymatic) assays and protein purifications
- Mammalian cell culture and differentiation
- Cell transfection for gene silencing / overexpression
- Immunohistochemical / immunofluorescent staining
- Assist with microscopy and image analysis
- Assist with laboratory animal experiments (zebrafish and mouse models)
- Perform analysis of all generated experimental data, including statistics
- Make up and maintain stock / working chemical solutions, growth media, bacterial glycerol stocks, mammalian cell banks
- Contribute to the maintenance of various equipment pieces including FPLC protein purifier, UHPLC, fridges / freezers, pH-meter… (tasks are shared within the group)
- Maintain a clean laboratory setting (glassware cleaning, waste disposal…) and refill general consumable stocks
- Order, gather, inventory, and stock supplies for laboratory use
- Keep a record of current projects in a well-organized lab notebook
- Work in a collaborative environment, also with different service-based core platforms (e.g. sequencing, metabolomics facilities)
- Contributing to methodology sections and figure generation for manuscripts submitted for publication in high-quality journals
- Presentation of research findings during internal scientific meetings
