Job Description
As a member of a team providing services to EUMETSAT, you will have the following responsibilities :
Support our customer EUMETSAT during routine operations of Copernicus Sentinel Spacecraft or similar missions, including the operations build-up and the operations engineering and scientific activities to be undertaken as part of the routine operations of the satellite system for the Copernicus Sentinel Mission.
The key person shall perform tasks related to instrument data processing in support of the Copernicus Payload Data Ground Segment (PDGS) , during current routine operations , as well as for the operations build-up and the routine operations phase for the dual satellite system.
The tasks cover the operation of the different data processing components, which include :
- Data ingestion, processing and product distribution;
- Data and Product analysis;
- Operational performance monitoring and reporting, including the development, documentation and maintenance of the relevant tools e.g. production statistics, generation and reporting, PDGS monitoring and reporting;
- The testing and the implementation of new products;
- The setting-up, implementation and update of operational procedures and documentation;
- Anomaly investigation;
- First line maintenance, including on-call support;
- Co-ordination with external organisations and service providers;
- Attendance at technical meetings;
- Participation in formal reviews;
- On-call support.
Qualifications
In addition to having a University degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, the person shall have the following mandatory skills :
Demonstrated experience in near-real-time, data-driven, automated systems with large computer networksDemonstrated experience with UNIX / Linux operating systemsKnowledge of the Development and maintenance of operational procedures and / or configuration dataKnowledge of scripting languages and databases (e.g. Perl, Python, shell, PostgreSQL)Proven experience in the integration, verification and validation (IV&V) of data processing systems and / or processors, including the generation of test plans, test specifications, procedures and test reports for end-to-end processing chainsAbility to communicate effectively in EnglishAbility to conduct all activities in an orderly and disciplined mannerHigh degree of working autonomy, problem-solving, good analytical skillsAbility to work under pressure, Ability to work with a minimum of supervisionHigh degree of interpersonal awarenessExperience working as part of a multicultural teamAdditional skills (considered as an added value) :
Experience in the validation of operational proceduresDemonstrated experience in operations, building up activitiesPractical knowledge in Configuration ControlKnowledge in Computer systems, Network systems and IT SecurityKnowledge of ECSS standardsExperience in validating complex remote sensing data processing systemsDevelopment and maintenance of operational proceduresProgramming languages (e.g. C, C++ and IDL)Knowledge of spacecraft and / or ground segment operationsDemonstrated experience in Instrument data and product processing (Level-0 to 2) of meteorological and / or earth observation productsKnowledge and / or experience of quality control, calibration and validationAdditional Information
