Strategic Product and Innovation Manager (m/f/d) for high-performance instrumentation

Who we are

Swabian Instruments is a research-driven company based in Stuttgart, Germany. We develop novel instrumentation for generating and acquiring digital signals, with applications in timing & synchronization, life sciences, and quantum technology.

Two key components are contributing to our success : combining high-performance hardware and an intuitive yet powerful software engine that streamlines data processing and analysis in real-time.

Ultimately, this makes it possible for our customers, e.g., MIT, Harvard University, Cambridge University, and NASA, to solve their measurement and analysis challenges efficiently.

We are looking for a Strategic Product and Innovation Manager (m / f / d) based in Stuttgart.

Your role

Your mission at Swabian Instruments is to make sure that our products align with current and future market needs. To accomplish this, you will work closely with the Management, Research, Engineering and Sales & Marketing teams to develop product development ideas.

Furthermore you will critically evaluate new and existing ideas regarding their market potential. Based on your work, we will make pivotal strategic decisions on product development and market launches.

Through your networking as well as continuous market observation and analysis, you regularly validate assumptions about the potential of current projects in terms of market fit and cost, e.

g. in the field of Time Tagging, Photonics, DLS, QKD and Pulse Pattern Generation. Your overall goal is to ensure the long-term success and competitiveness of Swabian Instruments’ products through this careful management and monitoring.

Your contribution to our team

• Analyze our current and neighboring markets for potential and trends and develop business cases with opportunities, risks and specific recommendations for action for our product roadmap
• Identify new business areas and growth opportunities such as new applications for existing products
• Create and adapt a product roadmap for the upcoming years in collaboration with various teams
• Develop, collect and aggregate ideas and input from various teams within the company, e.g. sales, support, research and development
• Establish and facilitate strategic partnerships with customers and industry experts
• Participate in international trade fairs, conferences and customer visits

Your profile

• Completed Master's degree or PhD in physics, electrical engineering or similar
• Pioneering spirit combined with an analytical approach to steer our product development
• Communication and collaboration skills to find good solutions with all involved stakeholders
• Experience with product development processes and technical aspects of laboratory equipment
• Hands-on mentality and willingness to travel (min. 15%)
• Professional experience in the industry
• Fluent proficiency in written and spoken English
• Fluent proficiency in written and spoken German is a plus
• Experience in business development (such as defining roadmaps and strategies) is a plus
