The professorship is expected to represent the subject of general medicine in its entire breadth in research and teaching with a major focus on prevention and innovative models for patient care.
The successful candidate will be appointed head of an independent department at the Center for Preventive Medicine and Digital Health (CPD;
https : / / www.umm.uni-heidelberg.de / cpd / ) of the Medical Faculty Mannheim. The focus of the professorship will be on the development and evaluation of innovative models for patient care and of concepts with which evidence-based preventive measures, particularly for cardiovascular and metabolic diseases and modern primary care, can be offered sustainably and comprehensively and integrated into local structures.
Close collaboration with the relevant departments of the CPD and the Mannheim Institute for Intelligent Systems in Medicine (MIISM) Public Health, Social and Preventive Medicine;
Prevention of Cardiovascular and Metabolic Diseases, Complex Data Processing in Medical Informatics is expected. Collaboration should especially focus on research aspects of health promotion, prevention and the establishment of regional, innovative and sustainable structures for patient care including new digital forms of patient care.
Furthermore, close collaboration is expected with the National Cancer Prevention Center currently being established at the DKFZ in Heidelberg.
The future position holder will be responsible to further develop the teaching program in general medicine as part of MaReCuM, the model study program in medicine of the faculty.
Close cooperation with the academic teaching practices of the Medical Faculty Mannheim and the University Medical Center Mannheim is mandatory.
Of particular importance is the active collaboration in the development of innovative care concepts in rural areas as well as with the university outpatient clinics for research into new cross-sectoral forms of care within the framework of university medicine.
Prerequisites for application are a completed university degree, a qualified doctorate and adequate teaching experience. In accordance with Article 47, paragraph 2 of the Higher Education Law of the Federal State of Baden-Württemberg a Habilitation, a successfully evaluated junior professorship or equivalent scientific qualifications are additional requirements.
Excellent performance in research in general medicine with a focus on prevention and innovative care models, excellent performance in teaching, relevant leadership experience, and successful acquisition of extramural funding and didactic competence are expected.
In addition, the ability to cooperate, leadership skills, an integrative personality for the interactive further development of MaReCuM and commitment to academic self-administration are also required.
We are looking for an outstanding candidate with the ability to develop future-oriented concepts for research and teaching in general medicine with a focus on preventive medicine and to implement them in the context of primary care.
A degree in human medicine, experience in primary medical care and board certification as a general practitioner or in a related medical specialty are desirable, but not a prerequisite for the appointment.
The professorship is a permanent position. If the general civil service and budgetary requirements are met, the successful candidate will be appointed to the professorship directly as a civil servant for the lifetime.
