Postdoctoral Researcher in the History of Philosophy

In the Faculty I, department of philosophy, we are looking for a postdoctoral researcher as of the next possible date at the following conditions :
- 100% 39,83 working hours per week
- Pay grade E 13 TV-L
- limited for three years
Your tasks :
- Participate in the establishment, development, and organization of a research unit in Siegen on the philosophy of the late Middle Ages and the Renaissance
- Conduct an independent postdoctoral research project in the field of the history of late Medieval or Renaissance philosophy
- Contribute to the development and discussion of grant-worthy ideas for research projects, including interdisciplinary approaches
- Teach two courses per semester (4 hours per week) in the field of the history of philosophy
- Support research and teaching activities, supervise students, and participate in administrative tasks
Your profile :
- A completed doctorate, preferably obtained within the last three years, in philosophy or a related discipline with a focus on the history of late medieval or Renaissance thought, or a highly advanced doctoral project (PhD thesis to be submitted no lather than the start date of the position)
- Palaeographic and philological skills in working with medieval manuscripts or early modern prints are desirable, preferably with proven experience in editing philosophical Latin texts
- Very good knowledge of Latin and, ideally, at least a basic understanding of Ancient Greek
- Solid knowledge of the history of philosophy of the Middle Ages or the Renaissance, preferably with a focus on 15th-century thought
- Very good proficiency of English and / or German, knowledge of additional languages is a plus
- Experience in organizing workshops and conferences is desirable
- Willingness to engage in interdisciplinary and international cooperation
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, coupled with high motivation
